Hutong Shard
This prestigious project completed in 2013 offering panoramic views from Level 33 of the magnificent Shard. The 130-cover restaurant was the first Hutong venue located outside of its native Hong Kong. Inspired by the hutongs or alleyways that criss-crossed across old Beijing, Hutong at The Shard merges the traditions of Northern China with a striking modern twist.
It was a competitive tender and the work was a logistical challenge, in particular with regards to delivery of materials, and also integration of services with the rest of the building. We responded to the challenge by becoming part of a comprehensive on-site management team to focus on these issues, and the restaurant opened on time.
